Why it's better to be an unauthorized repair shop

Operating as an unauthorized electronics repair shop allows for greater flexibility in service offerings and pricing. These shops are not bound by the strict guidelines and restrictions that authorized centers must adhere to, which can lead to faster repairs and the ability to source alternative parts. Additionally, unauthorized shops often provide a more personalized experience, as they can tailor their services to meet the unique needs of individual customers. This independence can foster innovation and creativity in repair techniques, ultimately resulting in cost-effective solutions that may not be available through authorized channels.

Why Verizon Wireless is NOT a Cell Phone Repair Shop

Verizon Wireless is a prominent telecommunications company that provides cellular services, mobile devices, and accessories to consumers. However, it is crucial to understand that Verizon Wireless is not a cell phone repair store. While they may offer mobile cellular coverage and cell phone plans, and customer support for their products, they do not specialize in repairs of damaged phones or tablets. Pixel 4 XL Question Mark in battery [Analysis & Repair]

The issue is caused by fracturing of the Battery FPC connector, which results in the phone not receiving data from the battery. Li-Ion batteries in modern smart phones don’t just have a ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ terminal like your more simple batteries. They also transmit data to the phone. Which consists of telling the phone the temperature of the battery, the amount of cycles its completed, its current voltage, and more. However when this data isn’t getting transmitted to the phone – yes there still is power to the phone – however the phone cant determine what % the battery is. The battery connector on the battery side, doesn’t have much solder on it, and fractures quite easily after a drop.

Secrets Your Mobile Phone Insurance Company Doesn't Want You To Know

The promise of phone insurance and the reality of it are vastly different. Most people seem to think that if they “break” their phone the insurance is there to replace it with a brand new one. For some, a “broken phone” is really just a shattered screen that could have been replaced at a repair shop for about $100, but instead they send it off to Asurion and have their phone (that had a perfectly functional motherboard and had never seen a drop of water) replaced with a “Refurbished by Asurion” phone whose mobo was shoddily repaired after liquid damage by a half-rate technician contracted by the company to mass repair boards collected from other phones sent to the company from customers that don’t really seem to understand what their phone is worth.

iPhone not charging when plugged in?

Any knowledgeable electronics repair shop should be able to pretty quickly determine the source of the issue by observing if the phone draws any current with an ammeter, dry-fitting a new charging port and new battery, and observing the response through the ammeter.

A bad tristar might still result in the phone drawing current, but won't allow the battery to charge. To be certain, a known working battery might be dry-fit onto the phone and if the phone still won't charge the new battery, then a tristar repair is indicated.

iPhone 6 Long Screw Damage

The top 2 screws (shown in orange and yellow) screw into the frame and/or stand-off screws. The 3 screws in the bottom triangle are sitting atop the motherboard millimeters above very tiny traces that can be breached if a longer screw is used, hence the name "long screw damage". This is often caused by in-experienced technicians and/or Do-It-Yourselfers who failed to accurately keep track of the screws.

When this type of damage is done, the only method to repair the phone is micro soldering with a microscope. It is very significant and often times can completely ruin the phone. The symptoms of this damage is often: blue screen on start up, red screen on boot, no backlight, no image on boot, phone still vibrates but no image on screen.

iPhone 6 Backlight Repairs

…The iPhone 6 that we had showed signs of life but no display. After replacing the screen with a new one, it still showed no signs of an image. When inspecting the screen in front of a flashlight, a faint image was visible. This confirmed that the phone was on and in fact worked, but had a blown back light. For this type of repair it would require micro soldering. After checking the filters on the motherboard we found them to have continuity and functioned within specifications. At this point in the back light circuit we still had a back light display BGA IC (ball grid array integrated circuit) as well as a coil and a diode. After checking the coil, which was also found to be within specifications, we then looked to the diode. Below is the picture of the diode under the cpu heatsink.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5210 Battery Connector Repair

This week in micro soldering repairs we came across a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 GT-P5210 that had its battery replaced and the battery connector was loose. This was a result of a failed attempt of a DIY battery replacement. After getting the motherboard under the microscope we noticed all the pins were de-soldered from the board and needed micro soldering to re-attach them. Hot air would not be suitable in this situation due to the close proximity of plastic and other smd components.

We were able to capture the repair on video to show the whole process that was performed during this micro soldering repair service which took less than 15mins from start to finish.

iPhone 6 Plus Flashing Gray Bars No Touch Repair

The problem that typically causes this is bad solder joints under one and/or both of the touch ics on the motherboard. The intergrated circuits using a BGA (ball grid array) of solder balls and often when the phone is slightly bent or dropped then these connections can become jossled and lose connection which results in spotty or little touch response on the screen.
